Elite Academy
Our weekly Academy sessions are designed to be a great addition to club training. We provide a challenging and enjoyable environment where players are grouped by ability—not just age—to ensure every cricketer is challenged at the perfect level for their development.
The right challenge, at the right time
We move players between groups based on technical readiness and coaching criteria rather than strict age brackets. This ensures your child is never overwhelmed or under-challenged.
We kindly ask parents to trust our judgments and processes, which allows our entire coaching team to evaluate and support every player’s growth.
Our player criteria also helps our coaches plan appropriate sessions to challenge each player at their current level of development.
The sessions will be competitive, skill developing and engaging to help all players move their game forwards.
For the summer term, sessions will take place on Monday and Tuesday evenings at Stourbridge Cricket Club for Micros, Micros Plus and Foals. Our Colts and Elites sessions resume in September. Click 'Book a Place' to check out our classes. All academy places are paid for via a monthly direct debit.
Our Process
The Team: Alex Bingham, Matt Askin, Jack Dudley, Dan Hickman, and Ben Hopkins.
The Approach: Our coaches rotate through all groups of our program. This "many eyes, many times" approach ensures that when a player is ready to move up, the decision is backed by the entire coaching staff across a period of time.
Micros
Foundation: Predominantly soft ball with a gentle introduction to hard ball basics. (Typically ages 6+)
Micros Plus
Transition: Building hard ball confidence while maintaining high-repetition soft ball skill work. (Typically ages 9+)
Foals
Development: For players with at least one full season of hard ball match experience. (Typically ages 10+)
Colts
Refinement: For established players with 2–3 years of competitive hard ball experience. (Typically ages 11+)
Elites
Performance: For players currently participating regularly in adult league cricket. (Typically ages 13+)
